Crysis 3: 4 Years Later

I poured my soul into this video. It gave me back PTSD and an aneurysm. Sony Vegas was agonising to work with (first time use).
I crashed like a suicidal F1 test driver. It took me 3 weeks to produce, which is record time. I am sorry for that, but I am so glad it’s finally behind me. I am proud of the final product, and I am incredibly excited for what comes next. Thanks to Joseph Anderson for shouting me out last video. And thanks to Raycevick for not sending a hitman after me for using his format.

I said in my review that I wanted to take a critique style format to the campaign because I felt it better suited the game, and I knew I would have enough time. Well, in truth, that’s only 90% of the reason. The other 10 comes down to soundtrack. Crysis 3’s tracklist is remarkabley unremarkable. Slavov did deliver us the excellent What Are You Prepared To Sacrifice though, which, if you’re here looking for music, is what you’re looking for.

  • Crisis 3 was the only one I played. The environments of the first two just didn't interest me. Anyway I ended up absolutely loving Crisis 3. Great single player and the multiplayer was awesome as well. For being a Crisis game it didn't get the attention it deserved.

  • Biggest bullshit story ever.
In an Interview in 2010, Crytek said that they changed setting, protagonist, etc because they needed console players to feel welcomed.
And then, 6 months after Crysis 2 relase, they fuckin released Crysis 1 for consoles.
How could you killed my boi Nomad in a comic.

  • Just replayed Crysis 2 and 3 on Post-Human difficulty and I gotta say some of your points don't apply. Like the Ceph weaponry in the "unlock nanosuit dopamine receptors" mission. While yes the flamethrower is very effective against the flame thrower Cephs, when you kill them that way, they won't drop a weapon but explode instead meaning that you have to "manually" kill every 3rd or so. Also most ceph weapons are shit at range/have bad accuracy, but the problem with the higher difficulty is that you can not get too close to multiple enemies because it takes them only a split second to kill you when your super armor is down. So I never ended up using the ceph weapons except the lightning sniper and I agree they don't feel too great to use either unless your suit is supercharged. Additionally, the damage multiplier on weakpoints (jelly for ceph/head for human) is immense even on higher difficulties, so being a good shot with a common weapon usually did the job. I played most if not all of the game with a Scar/grendel + typhoon/rail sniper/kvolt for hairy situations.
Agree so much about the bridge at 38:20.. I literally ran 2 full circles around the base before I found that pad lol.
Regarding Rebel APC optional objective in 2nd to last mission.. it's a giant tease on highest difficulty because the numbers are scaled so stupid that I ended up dying every time I tried to take that ride.
Also some other things I'd have a different view on but this comment that nobody will read anyway is already long enough for a 3 year old upload lol.

  • you said the draw times were pointless and said that its 3 arrows to kill the ceph so its unreliable but if you change it to a heavy draw time it kills them in one arrow 🙂

  • I played this in 2013 on Intel HD graphics 4000 (720p), and then again in 2018 on a 1080Ti (1440p 144Hz). This game was extraodinarily well optimised, I didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

  • Not to nitpick but the "fucking drills" on the Alpha Ceph actually make quite a bit of sense once you take into consideration that the Alpha Ceph is both a fuckoff massive snake and the ultimate high value target. Something that important must be hidden; something that large is difficult to hide; underground is pretty much the only option… one that lo and behold, the Alpha Ceph is very well suited to, with it's snake-style mobility for wriggling around through underground burrows, and drills to create said burrows in even the toughest of materials.

It's actually a brilliant little glimpse into the total Ceph hive's tactical awareness, regarding strengths, weaknesses, and relevant tactical implications for their widely varied anatomies. The Alpha Ceph's role is telepathic upper management, and thus it's equipped to dig out a suitable lair then work from home like it's 2020. 😛 It's our actions in-game that necessitate it take personal action in combat, for which it's (clearly) not designed or well suited. Why you think Mastermind's Theme bops so much harder? THAT'S the real high-tier Ceph combat unit, Alpha Ceph is just a pencil pusher… XD

  • 6:20, uuhh I never looked that up and knew all of that? it, isnt exactly subtle, i mean sure early game you might not know that, but by 1/3 or so of the way through assuming you bother to read the data pads you collect you can learn all of that. (plus eitherway there isnt an issue with the audience being a bit behind, thats a completely valid tactic, and I think the fact that I was able to go into crysis 3 without knowing past information and put all of it together including character relationships is a testament to how well it actually did information wise)
also the airburst and thermite tipped arrows do work very differently. Sure they both "explode" but one is proximity and instant activation with small levels of armour peircing making it optimal for large groups of enemies that may run away in the time it takes the termite tipped ones to detonate. Further the thermite tipped ones pierce armour a lot more making them much more viable when taking down HPTs. (also also, yes drawweight is very important to know if you want to use it optimally, several enemies can be one shot with certain draw weights thus saving you an arrow and preventing alerts)

  • I'm an exclusively PC gamer and I typically hate military shooters. They bore me to death.
Crysis was tolerable for me, if boring. Crysis Warhead took one more step forwards towards enjoyable.
Crysis 2 was something I was not expecting to enjoy at all , and I didn't, until I cranked the difficulty to max, then miraculously, I loved it.
Crysis 3 was released on Steam yesterday, and I'm going to play it tomorrow 😀

  • 2 and 3 actually did a better job of letting you utilize the nano suit abilities better than 1. The fans of the first game give it too much credit, and don’t give enough to the two sequels. Crisis 3 is a beautiful game with a great sound design and soundtrack. It’s lows are pretty low but it’s highs are Snoop dog high.

  • Crysis died the moment they decided to take the Game that melt's PC's (besides maybe NASA System's) and put it on a Toaster (Console's) and didn't realize that that doesn't work until 2 Games failed to meet sales expectation's at which point the Crysis IP was already in ruin's thanks EA and who ever else at Crytek thought this was a good idea.

  • It was all a bit over rated looking back. The shortened story mode that was replaced by a dull MP system was a bad choice – but at the time studios were all jumping on the popular CoD MP bandwagon, so it was a bad choice, but other studios did the same.
The graphics and world were great but the story was pretty standard sci fi stuff and mechanically it had some of the worse AI in gaming – I only experienced worse AI on a AAA game once before and that was Crysis 2 lol But for all it's faults I did like Crysis 2 way more than 3 simply because the story was mnore fleshed out and the gameplay was immersive and much longer so you really did get absorbed by the levels. Crysis 3 was all a bit rushed.
I hope that the new remaster of Crysis leads to a return to the franchise in some way as I think that Crysis 3 wasn't the way to end it.

  • I loved this game series. It is easy to find mistakes made in a game but try to do one yourself … not so easy as you might think. I hate critics as they don't know what they are talking about. I love games with a good story and gameplay, would be awesome if everything would be perfect but that will never be the case. So these videos are pointless. I think that Crysis is still one of the best game series ever and I would like to play another Crysis game for sure. But thats just me …
