32 bits mean it had the power of ps1 which was also 32 bits. Different hardware but either or they never used the 32x to its fullest potential but somebody originally, obviously, did and I bet there's a few complete but unreleased gems waiting out there
I wonder how many people have bought the Capcom Home Arcade for AvP alone. Hopefully that is the foot in the door for getting a proper release on consoles.
I’ve been researching Genesis homebrew development, and I hope to tackle the 32X when I get experienced with the Genesis hardware
I think your documentaries are a very important part of gaming history that few if any people cover as in depth as you. Keep up the great work my friend, hope you're all well over there in the USA.
I recognize the music at 00:43 til 1:23, but can't place what game it's from. Anybody have a clue?
This is such a great episode. The 32X missed out on some incredible games, what a shame. Really enjoying these videos Jenovi, thanks for all the work you put in!
I wish I lived in a world where The Bloodletting was released. I wonder if there's an old EEPROM with an early build on it in some storage unit somewhere in Japan?
excuse me but the daytona usa port on Xbox 360 is one of the most arcade prefect ports of the game
Something to bear in mind about the Duel demo and Mean Machines is that IIRC their sister magazine, which was the official Sega Magazine, published arcade shots of some games claiming that they were the Saturn or 32x versions (Virtua Racing and Daytona, for example). Mean Machines may have published them too, but I can't remember. Magazines of the time were quite good at either misunderstanding or misrepresenting what they were being shown.
Judging from the small, low quality clip available, that Duel demo's animation was extremely impressive for the time. IMO too impressive for building actual game from at the time.
Tbh the mega Cd should have been of higher spec and no need for the 32x. Mind you, it was still £279.99 back in the day, took me until 2002 to get my own own. Sure, at least Sega tried.
Most were fake and never made it to the press, if true, they were already dumped. It was very common to send the media images of a game and it did not even have to be from a console. For example Daytona (with many textures), is the preliminary of the Saturn, when the Saturn had not even come out, that you see did not even have a console, then they had to cut it a lot. That was revealed long ago, it was running on a Silicon Graphics, seen in a SEGA documentary.
Where can I download those images from TV CRT? They are great.!
I never actually owned a 32x but I did rent one. If alot of those unreleased games had been released I probably would have bought the console. I did have an original model sega and cd attachment though. There is a couple of sega cd games on steam though aside from sonic cd there is night trap 25th anniversary and double switch 25th anniversary However double switch also had a saturn release. As for alien vs predator/darkstalkers can still be enjoyed with the mame emulator or mame core in retroarch.
I would have loved to have seen Darkstalkers and Alien vs Predator on the 32X. I would have bought the console if those games were on it.
Give for free 32x with initial game releases (afterburner, etc), then you have a great user base to keep several years
The code for these games should be released and let homebrew programmers finish and then sell them. I would love AVP to be released.
The 32x could have been a great hidden Gem of a system but Sega dumped it of the ledge to go on and waste money on the Saturn…
footage for Black Angel (https://youtu.be/trHNAbp21x4?t=160) is Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000. Is this an error or was the game repurposed?
If AvP was available for the 32X I would have kept my 32X.
If Daytona USA was released on 32x….
Potato Phone users would play it on Retroarch
If all these where to come out it would be nice
Sega needs to bring 32x mini and bring some of these canceled titles on it
Yes I'd like to see more. Is it true the 32x enhances the visuals of the Genesis? Thanks. I subbed by the way. 😋👍
Alien vs predator 👍👍
I have just discovered your channel a week ago and I love every single video you have posted so far. Keep it up.
Capcoms Alien Vs Predator was moved to the Sega Satuirn in Japan. Before completion they ran out of the 20th century fox license.
Capcom's CPS2 Alien vs. Predator is my absolute favorite arcade beat 'em up of all time. It would have been so amazing if they actually released this for the 32X. To this day we never got a home port of it.
How did all these great titles get cancelled and what did we get? Toughman Contest and another port of NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat II? Also, did they really think it was necessary to re-release Corpse Killer and Night Trap?
You know NOTHING about Daytona sir!
That’s a lot of cancelled games!
You remind me of the energy and personality of retropolis zone and the knack for knowledge like Lairds lair.
consider me a new subscriber.
It looks like there were more games planned for the 32x when it was discontinued than the Dreamcast. I would have loved to have seen SVP and 32x games like Daytona and Darkstalkers. Just 15 games is so sad for a Saturn running on a Mega Drive.
Why does the Duel box art mock up depict a Reptilian Xindi from Star Trek Enterprise?
Alien vs predator that’s dissapointing to know I would have definitely picked that up. I had a few 32x games
A pity not to have left those games !!! 32X would make more success !!! the Rackers could do these games pro 32X! it would be very cool
Lmao gameboy destroyed the game gear SNES beat the genesis sega CD failed 32x failed Saturn failed dreamcast failed sega was never king they were beat were it mattered Japan and America
The 32X could’ve have been great. Terrible timing though.
I dunno how you can blame the Saturn. How long was it out by the time the 32x was out? I always point the blame on the Saturn the price point.
It's been a while since the 32X came out but my recollection of its launch was that it was a piece of shit cash grab (before the next system was launched) with shit games that soured a lot of people on Sega and their hardware. After their well received prior consoles people trusted Sega and bought the 32X only to later realize they had been duped.
Sega was very reckless in handling their video game consoles and the poorly handled Sega 32X, International releases of Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast gets my point across.
The 32X had so much potential. I wanted to get it but the lackluster releases kept me from getting it. If many of these games had actually made it to market, I would have picked it up for sure. SEGA pulled the plug on it too soon.
You sound so very much like David Suzuki.
That front cover of Duel at 11:45 the alien is IDENTICAL to the Reptilian Xindi from Star Trek Enterprise!
Daytona Usa for SEGA 32X !!!??? Please one RACKER For this!!!!
virtua Hamster exists
If the Saturn port of Daytona was bad, I cant imagine what the 32x would be, much less the NORMAL genesis.
let's not go away to the genesis
This is the most interesting 32x related series I have ever seen. What a shame these games did not get released and that more support was not given to the 32 x by SEGA.
Love Sega, but all about could, rather than should. 32X, Nomad, Sega CD, Genesis, Saturn, Game Gear…all great ideas, however way too many consoles all being promoted at the same time.
